Welcome to Mrs. Saumell’s Kindergarten Class

The best full day kindergarten program in the greater Danbury area (located in Brookfield, CT)

Welcome to kindergarten! I am excited to work with you and your children this year. Kindergarten has changed a lot since your own experience. We're going to have a lot of fun learning letters and letter sounds, sight words, and becoming independent readers. In addition we will also become writers, beginning with basic and proper letter formation and handwriting, and eventually becoming authors of our own stories. Our math program is all hands on. Some of the skills we will be focusing on are number recognition, counting, sorting, patterns building and recognition, and addition and subtraction. For our science units we will use the scientific process (making hypotheses, collecting, recording data, and drawing conclusions). We will learn about holidays, community helpers, transportation, and visit other countries to familiarize ourselves with maps and globes.

I believe that good parent-teacher communication is necessary for maximum school success.  Throughout the year I will communicate with you as much as possible, through newsletters, my website (CKKindergarten.com), e-mail (KSaumell@gmail.com) and in person.  Please visit my website, allow your child to explore some of the links and send me a test e-mail so I can add your e-mail address to my 2010-2011 address book.
